Our Curriculum Has a Name, Because It Deserves One
The Lyceum Discovery Curriculum (LDC) is American Lyceum's own framework — not a licensed import, not a generic “play-based learning” label. Built specifically for Flagship, grounded in three proven traditions, and carried through to a Cambridge academic pathway.
EYFS
The statutory UK Early Years Foundation Stage backbone — always named, always the structural spine underneath everything else.
Whole Brain Teaching
Energetic, participatory techniques — Class-Yes, Teach-Okay, Mirror Words, Scoreboard — that keep every child engaged, not just the ones already paying attention.
Reggio-Inspired Environment
Natural materials, child-height displays, and documentation that captures what a child actually said and did — not a staged craft project.
How a Day Actually Works
Every unit of learning follows the same three-step rhythm, so children — and teachers — always know the shape of what's coming.
Five traits, taught with the same intention as reading or maths
One trait is spotlighted each month and tracked all year — mapped directly onto the five Core Values every Lyceonian grows up with.
A year in a child's own voice
Every child keeps a running record across the year — a photo and their own words, captured whenever something is worth remembering. By May it becomes a genuine keepsake: a full year of a child's own voice, not a generic report card.
The academic pathway
The Discovery Cycle carries into a Cambridge International academic pathway from Grade 1 upward, through to O Level — an internationally recognised curriculum, taught through a framework built for this campus.
